Town "Haunted" By Nursery Rhymes At Night Discovers Where It's Coming From

Kids singing? Cute! Kids singing in the middle of the night? Terrifying. The sounds of children singing nursery rhymes --in the middle of the night when they should be sleeping-- is literally what nightmares are made of.

Residents of Ipswich were terrified for a year by the sounds of children singing "It's raining. It's pouring. The old man is snoring" at all hours of the night for almost a year.

One woman said, "It was waking me up in the night, it was absolutely terrifying."

She also said she, quote, "heard it at all times of the night — 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 4 a.m. — it was sporadic, sometimes it would play once, other times it was over and over. Last week it played for hours, it was just horrible.

Ipswich Borough Council took the complaint seriously and had a rapid response team driving around to track down where the singing was coming from.

Turns out, the town isn't haunted. (Thank goodness.) It was a motion alarm being triggered by spiders. The alarm, which is supposed to deter thieves, was supposed to be only heard by people on private land. It was turned down.
