What is Workplace "Pleasenteeism"?
It's a new term coined by healthcare service Lime, which is when people feel like they have to hide their anxieties or mental health struggles at work.
It’s a play on “Presenteeism,” the idea that “showing up” is key to being a good employee – even if that means never taking sick days, staying late at the office, or never working from home.
Lime’s new report shows that over 51% of workers feel pressured to put on a brave face in front of their colleagues – 61% being women versus 45% men. Meanwhile, 26% say they’re not coping well at work, while 34% are struggling outside of work, too.
