Running in the men’s 800 meters, Team U.S.A’s Isaiah Jewett was in position to finish in the top two in his heat, until he fell with Botswana’s Nijel Amos.
Isaiah Jewett admits, “It was devastating. I’m not going to lie.” But instead of being bitter and angry about it, Isaiah got up and the men helped each other to their feet. They put their arms around each other and finished the race.
Nijel Amos let Isaiah Jewett finish one step ahead of him. They came in last and second to last, but they finished the race with no hard feelings and showed the world was real sportsmanship looks like.
