If you've always wondered why your dog needs to circle a few times before going to the bathroom then get ready to learn that it's because of the Earth's magnetic field according to a new study!

While everyone on the show knows that our dogs are very picky about where they go to the bathroom, a new study by the Czech University of Life Sciences finds that dogs circle not only to get a 360-view of their surroundings, but to also match the Earth's magnetic field.

Researchers studied 37 different breeds of dogs and found that almost every time a dog went to the bathroom that they lined up with the Earth's magnetic poles. Apparently our dogs prefer to relieve themselves by being aligned with the Earth's north-south axis.

The researchers couldn't come up with an exact reason as to why this happens, but if you've ever wanted to know where the Earth's poles are then just watch where your dog is pointing on their next bathroom trip!
