This can be a very difficult day for those who suffer from a fear of Friday the 13th… you know, since it is Friday the 13th.
The morbid fear of the number 13 or the date Friday the 13th is called triskaidekaphobia [[ tris-ky-dek-uh-FOH-bee-uh ]] and for certain individuals it can cause misgivings, anxiety and all kinds of distress.
Dr.Bert Hayslip in the Department of Psychology at the University of North Texas says certain individuals are more prone than others to believe in a superstition like Friday the 13th. Hayslip says, "People who are anxious, or are real dependent people who are unduly influenced by authority are the very ones who usually engage in this superstitious behavior."
To add to the fear factor, tonight is the Harvest full moon.
