Good Night Gossip: 7/2/19

Is Taylor Swift Suggesting Justin Bieber Cheated on Selena Gomez?

So yeah, this Taylor Swift/Justin Bieber/Scooter Braun thing doesn't look like it's going to end anytime soon. After Justin defended Scooter against Taylor's rant, someone went at Justin, saying, quote, "You cheated on her best friend and then publicly sided with the man who made revenge porn against her.

"Was she supposed to invite you over for tea??? [Eff] outta here."

Obviously, they were referring to SELENA GOMEZ. . . and Taylor LIKED the post.

(Does that mean she's CONFIRMING that Justin cheated on Selena? Discuss.)

On a related note,DEMI LOVATO came out yesterday in support of . . . SCOOTER. She didn't bash Taylor, though.

She said, quote, "I have dealt with bad people in this industry and Scooter is not one of them. He's a good man. Personally, I'm grateful he came into my life when he did.

"Please stop 'dragging' people or bullying them. There's enough hate in this world as it is."

Venus Williams Lost in the First Round at Wimbledon . . . to a 15-Year-Old Rookie?

“Who is Cori Gauff [[GOFF]]?” Venus Williams– and the rest of the world sure do now. That’s because the 15-year-old American stunned Williams in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 during yesterday’s first round in London. For Gauff, it wasn’t just a “win,” she grew up admiring the Williams sisters, and appropriately shed tears after beating one of her idols.

Gauff is the youngest player ever to advance through qualifying at Wimbledon is the professional era. Explaining her tears in the aftermath, Cori - who many know as Coco - said she was just overwhelmed. "I never thought this would happen," she offered. "I'm living my dream right now, not many people get to say that."

But its not as though she walked in thinking she'd win...or lose. “I wouldn’t say I didn’t expect to win the match,” Gauff notes. “I knew that I was going to go out there and play the way I play. I wasn’t surprised that I won. I mean, I was just overwhelmed at the end. I’ve never played on a court that big, the crowd was really wild. I was just surprised that people were cheering me on.”

  • Up next, Gauff will face Magdalena Rybarikova in the second round tomorrow. Elsewhere, second-seedNaomi Osaka was upset by Yulia Putintseva. As for Venus’ sister, Serena, she’ll play her first round match this morning against Giulia Gatto-Monticone.
  • ONE MORE THING! In other exciting news for Gauff, She took a science test the night before the finals of the qualifying tournament…and she got a B. She also missed school for the legendary tournament. Speaking to reporters yesterday, Gauff cracked wise about school – as she stayed humble about her on the court performance. “Today I'd give myself an A,” she quipped. “Hopefully my next test I can get an A but you never know.”

Hugh Jackman Helps Man Get Engaged!

As if we needed another reason to love Hugh Jackman, now we hear he helped a man get engaged at one of his shows.Joe Kripal wrote to the actor a few months ago to enlist his help in popping the question to his girlfriend,Sanaa Ahmed. At the St. Paul stop on his “The Man. The Music. The Show” tour, Hugh did just that.

In the video –which you can see on the right– Hugh approaches Joe, who proceeds to tell Sanaa, “You’re the love of my life, and I want to spend every day with you, which is why I asked Hugh, here, to help me out with this.” He asked. She said yes, and the crowd went wild.

Joe said he was nervous, but had no doubt that he’d get a yes from Sanaa. As for his partner in crime, Joe said, “I love how genuine of a guy Hugh Jackman is. The entire time it didn’t seem like something he felt that he had to do, but something he wanted to be a part of.”
