Converse’s New Renew Sneakers Are Made Of Recycled Materials

If you’re trying to find ways to live a more sustainable life, what you wear is a good starting point. And Converse is making that easier with their new line of sneakers made from up-cycled textiles and recycled single-use plastic bottles. Their Renewshoes come in classic Converse styles, but also work to reduce waste, so it’s a win-win.

The line includes Renew Canvas sneakers, which come in the same design as the classic All Stars high-top shoes, but these are made from 100% recycled polyester, made completely from single-use plastic bottles and come with the saying “Life Is Too Short To Waste” on the tongue and soles. Converse’s Renew Denim sneakers are made with jeans diverted from landfills and come in both the Chuck Taylor All Star and Chuck 70 styles. And there’s also the Renew Cotton line, which uses Converse’s own canvas leftovers to make an ultra-soft, 40% recycled cotton and polyester composite.

The Renew Canvas sneakers will be available online and in stores starting this Friday, (July 5th), with the Renew Denim line launching in August, and Renew Cotton following in early spring 2020. And both the Canvas and Denim shoes will be making a comeback for the 2019 holiday season, and will come in different colors and styles. Find out more HERE.
