A flight from Manchester was delayed seven hours after a passenger mistakenly opened an emergency exit instead of the toilet door.
It happened aboard a Pakistan International Airlines flight as a female passenger accidentally opened the emergency exit door thinking there was a toilet on the other side. Thankfully, the flight was still on the runaway in Manchester and not in the air.
As she mistakenly opened the aircraft’s left rear door, it automatically deployed the aircraft’s emergency chute. The mistake caused a nearly eight-hour delay to the 7hr 50 min flight. This was due to crew needing to reseat 21 of the 393 passengers and offload 35 because the rear exit door was no longer available for use in the event of an emergency.
