Fall Out Boy just released an updated version of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire". The OG song covered events from 1949 to 1989 and the new FOB version picks up where Billy left off covering events from 1989 through today.
The references in the new song include major event like 9/11, QAnon, Rodney King and the L.A. Riots, Columbine, and more. But it also includes pop culture moments too like Sponge Bob, Tiger King, The Fyre Festival and Stranger Things.
FOB says, quote, "So much has happened in the span of the last 34 years, we felt like a little system update might be fun. Hope you like our take on it."
Not mentioned surprisingly is the COVID-19 pandemic, but that was on purpose. Pete Wentz says, quote, "It's like, that's all anybody talked [about] . . . You know what I mean? I don't know. It felt like there was a couple of things that felt like a little on the nose.”

What do you think of the new version?
A lot of people hate Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire". In fact, Billy himself has called it, quote, "One of the most hated things I ever wrote!"
Here's the OG if you need a littler refresher.
