WOW. WOW. WOW. A piano ballad? From Lorde? I wasn't expecting that! But I love it.
Lorde’s upcoming album, Melodrama, comes out June 16th and she just gave us another song from it!
Lorde recently revealed that “Liability” was inspired by crying in a cab to Rihanna’s “Higher,” and feeling like at some point she might be an inconvenience to the people closest to her.
She said, “Because of my lifestyle and what I do for work, there’s going to be a point with every single person around me where I’m gonna be attacks on them in some way. If it is having to give up a little portion of their privacy or their life becoming more difficult or whatever. It was just this moment of sadness and I remember it so vividly.”
Lorde says she’s REALLY PROUD of this song (and the album) because of its vulnerability. She said, “It feels so starkly truthful to me, and I think everyone knows what that’s like, to just feel like a fucking liability.”
