I'm definitely not the person that likes to give her life story before a recipe, in fact I find it annoying as all get out. But Being that this was a cake to celebrate Memorial Day I felt it was important to say a HUGE thank you all those that have sacrificed so much for our country. Especially in today's day and age. THANK YOU!
So every year I do a festive Memorial day cake with some sort of blueberry/strawberry garnish. Last year I did an American flag angel food on sheet cake style and to be honest it wasn't my favorite. I made it from a box, as I do with most of my cakes, but Angel food just isn't the same when made that way. So I went and found a recipe that basically dresses up a store bought Angel Food Cake with homemade whipped cream icing that's infused with cream cheese. The fiancé LOVES a whipped cream icing and I LOVE a cream cheese icing so it was a win-win.
It was a chef's kiss kind of good!
