Alexa Has A New “Away” Mode To Deter Burglars

Amazon's smart speaker has a new feature called "away mode." 

 Alexa plays pre-recorded audio tracks that run about an hour each of real conversations and skits that could be taking place inside the home. Creators of the feature say the idea is built around "funny, but somewhat common conversations," including a couple breaking up.

Tropical storm watch in effect for Hawaii as Hurricane Hector nears

A tropical storm watch is in effect for parts of Hawaii's Big Island on Monday as Hurricane Hector moved west, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center said.

The watch was in effect for Hawai'i County, the same county where Kilauea Volcano has been raging for three months, destroying more than 700 structures.

Mendocino Fire The Largest Ever

 Mendocino Complex fire burning in Northern California was the fourth largest in the state’s history. That was yesterday... its now the largest wildfire in the state's history.

At last check, the two fires which combined to form the Mendocino Complex have scorched more than 283-thousand acres in Mendocino, Lake and Colusa counties. The larger of the fires is the Ranch fire, which has burned 235-thousand acres and is only 21-percent contained.

Almond Milk Recalled Over Cow’s Milk Concerns

HP Hood LLC has voluntarily recalled half-gallon cartons of refrigerated Vanilla Almond Breeze almond milk because the product may contain cow’s milk. People with cow’s milk allergies or sensitivities could have serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume cow’s milk.
