False Emergency Alert On Missile Launch In Hawaii

Face palm emoji....

In what can only be described as a gross understatement, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) says the false emergency alert sent to Hawaiians about an incoming ballistic missile on Saturday is “absolutely unacceptable.

The FCC issued a rase statement saying the warning "caused a wave of panic," which was worsened by the 38-minute delay before a correction alert was issued. The official explanation, of course, is “human error” – that an employee “pushed a wrong button” during shift change.

But more concerning that the error? The fact that state officials knew the alert was false within three minutes – and yet, they delayed giving an “all clear” for nearly 40 minutes. And get this. The employee guilty of the error? They still have a job. As for what took so long to get the “oops” message out, officials say that application wasn’t loaded in the computer and it took all that time to make it happen.

Dang lucky guy!

A 20-year-old Florida man is claiming a 450-million-dollar Mega Millions jackpot. Lottery officials say Shane Missler bought the sole winning ticket last week at a 7-Eleven in Port Richey, where he lives. And by the way? It was a “quick pick.”

In a brief statement, Missler said he "wasn't really surprised" because he had "a feeling" that he might win. Missler plans to use the windfall to take care of his family, plan for the future and have some fun. "I'm only 20,” he says. “But I hope to use it to pursue a variety of passions, help my family and do some good for humanity." To that end, Missler has “retired” and has founded the company, “Secret 007, LLC.”
