Tropical Storm Cindy causes power outages, warning extended

Tropical Storm Cindy

This storm is going to be a dangerous one.

"Tropical Storm Cindy caused power outages Wednesday in Louisiana as the National Hurricane Center extended a tropical storm warning further east along the U.S. Gulf Coast to the Florida border.

Cindy knocked out power to nearly 10,000 New Orleans-area residents early Wednesday, though most power has been restored, the Entergy Louisiana provider said. The storm is forecast to make landfall early Thursday -- likely along the border of Texas and Louisiana.

The NHC said Cindy has maximum sustained winds of 60 mph and is moving northwest at a speed of 8 mph. The storm system is less than 170 miles south-southwest of Morgan City, La., and less than 225 miles southeast of Galveston, Texas."
