Man Uses Bank Transfers to Track down Owner of a Lost Wallet

Tim Cameron lost his wallet in London and didn’t expect he’d ever see it again. But a clever good samaritan named Simon found a way to reach him and return the wallet. Using Tim’s account number from his bank card, Simon made four one-pence transfers into Tim’s account and used the reference area that allows 18-characters to let him know he’d found the wallet and share his contact info.

"I was incredibly relieved and stoked that Simon had gone to so much effort, so quickly to reunite me with my wallet," Tim explains, adding that the transfers were in his account only 30 minutes after he realized he'd lost it. He called Simon and got the wallet back, rewarding his hero with a bottle of red wine as a thank you.
