Wilson Cruz Talks To Houston About 'VISIBLE: OUT ON TELEVISION' On Apple TV

LA Special Screening Of Apple TV+'s "Visible: Out On Television"

I had the exciting opportunity to speak to out actor Wilson Cruz, who had to be one of the first openly gay actors I had ever seen on television when he starred in the short-lived "My So-Called Life" as a gay teen. I was a senior in high school, years away from coming to terms with my own sexuality, yet I know Wilson played a part in normalizing something that was still at that point pretty taboo.

Wilson is taking his experiences through showbiz and putting them to work in his latest project, "Visible: Out On Television". This 5-part series on Apple TV+ talks to everyone from Ellen to Rachel Maddow to Billy Porter to Lena Waith. They all share their experiences, no matter how emotional, within the television industry and the filmmakers work to show the importance of TV as a medium that has shaped the American conscience around LGBTQ attitudes.

Listen to my full interview with Wilson below and learn about why this project is so very important to him and to our community. I also ask about where he thinks the industry still needs to focus its work and what he thinks the future holds.
