If you're looking for family fun this weekend, look no further than Fort Washington's Tantallon Community Players as they get their hair high with Ultra Clutch and twist to the sounds of the Corny Collins Show in their local production of the hit Broadway musical "Hairspray".
Based on the 1980's film of the same name by legendary Baltimore director John Waters, "Hairspray" follows teenager Tracy Turnblad's dream of becoming a dancer on "The Corny Collins Show", a local dance show ala "American Bandstand."
Like the film, the stage adaptation follow the social change sweeping America and Baltimore in particular at the time. The cast is incredible. From Theresa Cinalli's "Tracy" to Johnathan Jackson's "Corny Collins" to Kevin Buice's "Edna Turnblad" (pictured below), you'll forget you're watching a community theater production!
The music is fantastic and everyone is on point, including the show-stopping numbers from Corisa Myers' "Motormouth Maybelle"... YOU. WILL. GET. CHILLS.
Take the family and enjoy a day at the theater this weekend. If you buy your tickets in advance, drop the promo code "iHeart" into the box for a discount!
