Queer Latinx Actor Takes Center Stage on STARZ "Vida"

Ser Anzoategui from "Vida" on Starz

Ser Anzoategui is a non-binary Latinx/Chicanx actor/playright/activist with the gender pronounce 'They/Them/Theirs." Originally from Huntington Park, CA, they grew up in various East Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley communities. Anzoategui was cast in a recurring guest star role on Hulu's Emmy-nominated "East Los High" as the openly queer character Daysi Cantu before landing her latest role as Eddy on "Vida" on Starz. They have also appeared in additional roles on "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", "The Fosters" and "Shameless".

I had the opportunity to talk to Ser about the role of "Eddy" on "Vida", which premiered on May 6th on STARZ. The show is a compelling look at Mexican-American queer life and how it integrates with the culture. This show is telling stories most of America doesn't even know about. Not that they don't care, just that they haven't been exposed to it. This is America's chance to get informed.
