It looks like we might have a better glimpse at the future of Star Wars thanks to Lucasfilm's recent announcement that Academy Award-winner Taika Waititi will be directing and co-writing a new Star Wars movie!
You might be familiar with Waititi directing Thor: Ragnarok and the Academy Award-winning Jojo Rabbit and now he'll be bringing his brand of comedic action to the Star Wars Galaxy.
Waititi will be co-writing the film with Academy Award nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns who helped write 1917 last year and this isn't his first entry into Star Wars because he helped direct the season finale to The Mandalorian last year and was the voice of IG-11.
Now there's no release date attached to the film, but don't expect it in the immediate future because Waititi first has to direct Thor: Love and Thunder which is scheduled to release on February 18, 2022.
