Merriam-Webster is adding over 300 new words to its database and the new additions have a bunch of highlights that came from pop culture! Here are some of the best words, and their definitions, that are being added in:
Dog Whistle [noun] - an expression or statement that has a secondary meaning intended to be understood only by a particular group of people
Froyo [noun] - frozen yogurt
Front [intransitive verb] - to assume a fake or false personality to conceal one's true identity and character
Hangry [adjective] - feeling irrationally angry because you are hungry.
Hive Mind [noun] - the collective mental activity expressed in the complex, coordinated behavior of a colony of social insects (such as bees or ants) regarded as comparable to a single mind controlling the behavior of an individual organism
Onboarding [noun] - the act or process of orienting and training a new employee
Pregame [intransitive verb ] - to begin drinking alcohol before an event or activity (such as a party or a night out)
Sriracha [noun] - a pungent sauce that is made from hot peppers pureed with usually garlic, sugar, salt, and vinegar and that is typically used as a condiment
Troll [verb] - to antagonize (others) online by deliberately posting inflammatory, irrelevant, or offensive comments or other disruptive content
