Jim Carrey got weird while walking the red carpet for a New York Fashion Week event, a brief interview that was strange from the beginning. The actor first began by circling Catt Sadler of E!, who did hher best to get some normal responses out of him , spoiler, it didnt work!
“There’s no meaning to any of this, so I wanted to find the most meaningless thing that I could come to and join, and here I am,” he says. As Sadler attempts to pivot to something more traditional, Carrey presses the point: “I mean, you gotta admit it’s pretty meaningless.” “Do you believe in icons?” he asks her after she says the event is meant to celebrate icons. “I don’t believe in personalities. I don’t believe that you exist. But there’s a wonderful fragrance in the air.” Then he starts singing.
As Carrey waxes ever more philosophical — “I believe we’re a field of energy dancing for itself” — Sadler grows visibly uncomfortable, though she remains professional throughout as she attempts to salvage the interview. He ends on a positive note, at least: “We don’t matter. There’s the good news.”
