First things first, how did I not know that World Chocolate Day was on July 7? I feel like a HUGE chocolate event should have happened somewhere, but in honor of that day a Danish artisan chocolatier revealed the world’s most expensive chocolate!
The La Madeline au Truffe sells for over $2,600 per pound and it now hsa the Guiness World Record because it contains a rare French Perigord truffle!
The truffle is also surrounded by a ganache of heavy cream, sugar, truffle oil and vanilla coated in 70% Valrhona dark chocolate and rolled in fine cocoa powder. You can see below how it's made:
Each piece of the chocolate is presented on a bed of faux pearls in a silver box tied with a bow which probably explains why it sells for $250 per piece.
Maybe if you got 25 other people to take a road trip and each took a tiny bite it would be justified!
