Every week I throw it back to something awesome from any year before 2017 (or whatever year it is when you read this) that captured the hearts of hundreds of people and this week's throwback is one of the most played songs you heard if you ever went to a roller skating rink (yes those exist!) it's Lou Bega's 1999 version of "Mambo No. 5!"
While Lou Bega's "Mambo No. 5" isn't the original version, it technically is a cover of a German song from 1949, but most people know this one instead! Who doesn't want "A little bit of Monica in their life, a little bit of Erica by their side, a little bit of Rita is all they need. a little bit of Tina is what they see." The song spent over 20 weeks in the top 10 songs back in 199 which helped it earn an actual Grammy nomination! That's right you have to call Lou Bega "Grammy-Nominated Artist Lou Bega!
You can currently listen to Mambo No. 5 on anywhere you can get music, especially the iHeartRadio app, and it's totally okay if you want to find the closest roller-skating rink to relive your childhood! Can't wait for Lou Bega's almost 20 year follow-up called "Mambo No. 6!"
