The Average Cost Couples Spend on Weddings Has Gone Up!

Marriage is a huge milestone for every couple, so it makes sense that they are spending an arm and a leg to make sure everything is perfect on the big day.

The Knot surveyed 13,000 couples across the country who got married in 2016 and found that the cost of the average wedding has gone up to $35,329. That number doesn't even include the honeymoon! 2017 will likely see an even bigger number since the national average went up $3,000 since 2015.

Another outcome of the study was that the number of guests invited to weddings is actually on the decline! But, the average cost per guest has gone from $194 per person, to $245 since 2009. Why? Couples are going over the top to make sure their weddings are totally personalized and unforgettable, especially with entertainment. Things like photo booths, games and musical performances are the main contributors to this increase cost per person.

$35,329 is a lot of money. Maybe take that cash and use it as a down payment for a new house.
