This video posted by North Carolina Pilates teacher, Laura Browning Grant, and received more than 3 million views in a week. The video is of her husband kissing her for the first time in months, and it's as heartwarming as it sounds.
In March, Laura received a phone call that her husband, Jon a Navy Seal, had been in a bad car accident and was unresponsive. He had suffered a major brain injury leaving him in a coma. His chances of survival were slim, but after seventeen days of being in a coma he squeezed Laura's hand.
By early April, Jon was in stable condition and was released from the hospital to a 90-day program designed to help patients regain consciousness.
Laura left their home in North Carolina and moved into a hotel near Jon's rehabilitation center in Virginia.
Jon is making progress everyday, although Laura doesn't know how much he will recover. He is now breathing on his own without a breathing tube and he no longer has a feeding tube which are both big steps in his recovery.
He does remain dependent on others for his survival, like relearning basic tasks like how to brush his teeth and get dressed. Laura spends about 10 hours a day at the rehab facility.
On the evening of their viral video, Laura got a glimpse of the old Jon.
In the meantime, Laura's sister-in-law has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to cover future costs that surpass veteran benefits once Jon's paychecks stop coming.
