FBI Issues Urgent Toy Warning About 'Spy Toys'

The FBI has issues an urgent notice urging parents to steer clear of "spy toys" designed to snoop into the kids' lives. The concerning toys are packed full of sensors, cameras and microphones that records children's words and whereabouts with GPS locators.

“Smart toys and entertainment devices for children are increasingly incorporating technologies that learn and tailor their behaviors based on user interactions,” the advisory states.

“These features could put the privacy and safety of children at risk due to the large amount of personal information that may be unwittingly disclosed.”

Spy toys are on sale around the world and this isn't the first time parents have been warned about them. For example, last year a doll called My Friend Cayla was allegedly recording kids' conversations.

While the FBI did not disclose any particular brand, smart toys that present a risk include I-Que robot, the My Friend Cayla doll and Mattel's Aristotle.
