Donald Savastano seemed to be one lucky man. He hit big by winning a $1 million lottery ticket in the New York lottery, and was so excited with his new found money. He had some plans for the money, “Being a self-employed carpenter, I didn’t really have a plan for retirement." He said, “The money will help with that. I don’t have any other extravagant plans. I’ll buy a new truck, pay off some debt and invest for the future."
Another future plan? A much needed visit to the doctor. Turns out, this visit would change his life. He found out that he had stage 4 cancer, and just 23 days after winning the lottery, he passed away.
