Simone Biles was on the Today Show and while discussing the Larry Nassar case, she got pretty choked up. Simone even admits that she and her teammates are very good at compartmentalizing their feelings so as not to compromise their performance during competition, so it was definitely heartbreaking to watch these emotions pour out of her. She did not speak during the trial, unlike her teammate Aly Raisman and fellow Olympians Jordyn Wieber and McKayla Maroney, stating that she was not emotionally ready to face Nassar again.
While speaking to CNN, Simone explained why she did not attend Nassar's trial, "I think emotionally I decided that because I need to be in a good place, especially in my gymnastics, because most of the girls might not return to gymnastics, (whereas) me, I'm still in training and I'm back."
