Significant Snow Expected During Tuesday Afternoon Drive

While most of the area will be experiencing rain throughout the day on Tuesday, that rain will transition to snow as the storm system makes its exit Tuesday afternoon, bringing sub-freezing temperatures. We could receive a significant burst of snow Tuesday afternoon that drops several inches in a short period of time.

The National Weather Service is advising of possible treacherous driving conditions as the snow could be heavy throughout the region. Currently, the NWS is calling for 2-3" in the immediate Washington, DC Metro Area, while areas north of Baltimore could receive 3-4".

Timing of this storm is tricky, but all signs point to a late-afternoon to evening event, with the bulk of the snow occurring during the afternoon rush hour. With Federal workers back to work, it's important to keep an eye on operation status from the Office Of Personnel Management.
