I got to see David Leitch's Bullet Train a little early and it might be the sleeper-hit of the summer for me and for me is on par with The Kingsman movies, which I absolutely adore.
Leitch who you might be familiar with for directing the first John Wick, Atomic Blonde, and Deadpool 2 teamed up with an all-star cast for an on-screen adaptation of the Japanese novel Maria Beetle and it might be the most action-packed and fun time I've had at the theater this year.
The cast is stacked from top to bottom throughout the film and Bullet Train feels like the action-version of a murder mystery, but with trained assassins instead. Also I think I may have only watched the trailer for this film once and went in mostly unaware of what was going on and it was a delight.
Here are some of my initial, SPOILER-FREE, thoughts on the film and what stood out to me just in case you need more (or less) incentive to watch it:
- I haven't seen Brad Pitt in a movie in a while, but he did a phenomenal job throughout the film and the supporting cast was even better (at times you're wondering who the main character is and to me that shows that your film has a good cast)
- Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry steal the film as Tangerine and Lemon and have some of my favorite scenes in the film.
- There are cameos almost EVERYWHERE in this film so make sure you're paying attention to every small role because you'll have your "Leonardo DiCaprio moment from Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" moment.
- The film does have a little bit of a rocky/slow start (just like a train) that the film needs so that it can establish the characters and world of the film and there might be one scene that could be cut near the end of the film.
- Every action scene is choreographed differently on the same train that you don't know who exactly has the edge in every fight, which makes you even more invested as to who wins.
- There is technically ONE end-credit scene, but it happens pretty quickly into the credits so even if you try to leave the theater before everyone else then you will probably still see it!

I'm giving Bullet Train 9.5 out of 10 Thomas The Tank Engines, which you'll get after watching the film and if you love The Kingsman, John Wick, or Deadpool movies then you need to see this movie in theaters! Bullet Train is in theaters starting on August 5th!
