Sad news for Arrowverse fans because we're losing ANOTHER show in the Arrowverse as The CW just announced that Supergirl will end after its upcoming sixth season in 2021.
The final season of the show will begin production later this month in Vancouver and is scheduled to premiere in 2021 with 20 episodes for the final season.
As of right now there has been no definitive explanation as to why the show is getting canceled, but you can safely assume that the upcoming Superman & Lois show might have played a part since Supergirl borrowed several Superman villains and storylines.
It's also worth noting that a few months ago Melissa Benoist announced that she and fellow Supergirl co-star Christopher Wood are expecting a child.
Benoist confirmed the final season announcement on her Instagram, which you can read below.
There's no word on when Season 6 of Supergirl will actually be released in 2021, but for the time being you can relive Season 5 below!
