Being a kid during the early 2000s Static Shock was must-see TV on Saturday morning. He's been on other DC animated TV shows such as Justice League Unlimited and most recently Young Justice, but this fan film made by YouTuber David Kirkman may be the coolest adaptation of the character yet!
Let's hope that with this fan film, the powers that be can get something going to bring Static to the silver screen! There is also a great cameo by another Milestone Comics character at the end of the video so like we've all been trained to...watch through the credits!!!
If you aren't familiar with the character, he was created by Dwayne McDuffie, Devin Cowan, Michael Davis, and Derek Dingle for Milestone Comics in 1993. He was actually inspired my Spider-Man and was one of the main staples of Milestone Comics during their initial launch. After a few years in the comics, a show on kids WB is what brought him into the mainstream of the DC Animated heroes we all know and love today.
Most recently, there has been a grass-roots push to finally bring the character to a live-action medium whether it be TV or film. Rumors have circulated that eventually he is going to show up on The CW's Black Lightning, but it's never been confirmed yet and we haven't seen him on the show.
When it comes to movies, people do want to see this character on the big screen but nothing has been put in motion yet mostly because of legal mumbo jumbo. (Similar to why Marvel Studios can put The Hulk in movies but can’t make Hulk movies).
