Hoody Reviews 'Us' in 60 Seconds or Less!

I got to see Us early and Jordan Peele knocked it out of the park again for his follow-up film after Get Out!

Get Out was a huge surprise hit two years ago and I think that going into this movie you want to leave those expectations as a second Get Out at the door because it's an entirely different type of movie.

Us did a great job of paying homage/making fun of some of the common horror tropes we've seen in almost every scary movie and the entire time I just wanted answers to all of my questions. When the movie ended I had a ton of questions and wanted more content, which could be a bad or good thing. Here are some of my initial SPOILER-FREE thoughts on the film and what stood out to me:

  • Winston Duke (M'Baku from Black Panther) had to be my favorite character in the whole film, I won't spoil why
  • The soundtrack/score to Us is phenomenal and well-timed! Who knew "I Got Five on It" could be terrifying!?
  • There's a ton of comedy throughout the movie, but don't let it fool you away from the scary parts
  • Us will definitely have you prepared for Jordan Peele's take on The Twilight Zone in April

Watch my full review for Us below:

I'm giving the film 8 out of 10 pairs of scissors, which in this case is technically 16 scissors!? Go see the movie and support original movie ideas because after this I can't wait to see what Jordan Peele once again does next! Us is in theaters on March 22nd!
