Good news for anyone who was worried about the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise because Disney has reversed its decision to remove James Gunn as its director following a resurgence of his old tweets.
Gunn was fired by Disney last July and since then the third Guardians of the Galaxy film had been put on an indefinite hiatus as they were searching for a new director.
However, almost immediately after Gunn was fired by Disney it was Warner Bros. and DC that came in to swoop him over to write and direct Suicide Squad 2.
Gunn took to Twitter, after going on a break following his "scandal" to thank the fans for allowing him back into the MCU. You can see the tweet below.
The interesting thing is that Gunn will direct both Suicide Squad 2 AND Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Suicide Squad 2 is set to release in theaters on August 6, 2021 with Guardians to follow immediately after Suicide Squad 2 finishes filming.
