Together, we're creating a world where all young people can be their true selves. #TrueColorsDay #LGBTQ #MaggieMatters https://t.co/taJFL9IP9Q
The Maggie Sawyer Matters Fundraiser has raised $6,146, so far!
The fundraiser is hosted by True Colors Fund.
In America, it is estimated that up to 1.6 million youth experience homelessness each year. 40% of those young people identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT). The True Colors Fund is working to reduce that disproportionate percentage from 40% to none.
In season 2, when the amazing character of Detective Maggie Sawyer was introduced, a very powerful and very heartbreakingly true story was told.
Maggie Sawyer helped Agent Alex Danvers come into her sexuality and come out to the world by first telling her she was accepted by her family when she came out. Later, the fans and audience learned that Maggie did not have such a positive experience coming out to her family and the world.
Much like many youths across the US and the world.
Floriana Lima, and also Chyler Leigh, has been extremely involved in helping the LGBTQ Community.
Homelessness and the LGBT community go hand in hand around the world, with hundreds of thousands of LGBT youth left alone in the streets of the US; and that’s just one country.
We’ve decided to fundraise and make this donation in her name. Every Maggie Sawyer out there deserves our help.
We hope to see Maggie Sawyer back in our lives so she can get the happy ending that she (and viewers like her) deserve.
