Majors Mark and Rhea Dawn Woodcock, Salvation Army National Capitol Area

Mark A. Woodcock was born in Salisbury on Maryland’s Eastern Shore to Salvation Army officer parents. He attended and graduated from The Salvation Army Evangeline Booth College in 1987 and commissioned (an ordained) Salvation Army Officers. He met wife Rhea Dawn Woodcock of Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Salvation Army officer parents, years earlier. They were married in 1980. Today, they are both hold the rank of Major in The Salvation Army.

Majors Woodcock has served multiple appointments in The Salvation Army including Charlottesville, Martinsville, and Staunton, Virginia; Montgomery County, Maryland; and Jackson, Mississippi. The couple served as Divisional Youth Secretaries of The Salvation Army Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi Division, headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi.

The Woodcocks and their family have six generations in service to the mission of The Salvation Army.

The Woodcocks were appointed of Memphis (Tennessee) Area Commanders in June 2006 and tasked with raising $25 million to receive a $62 million matching grant from The Kroc Trust. The funds raised built and endowed the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, a 100,000 square foot proactive ministry of The Salvation Army in Memphis.

Majors Woodcock were appointed Orlando Area Commanders in the Florida Division in June 2012, and Divisional Secretaries of the Georgia Division in June 2015. The Woodcocks became the National Capital Area Commanders in June 2019, overseeing a $25 million operation that helps more than 33,000 people annually in the Greater Washington Region.

Majors Mark and Rhea Dawn Woodcock have two daughters and lots of grandchildren.
