We're honestly not sure if this is an April Fool's Joke or not.

In an interview with Access Hollywood on March 31, 2022, Jim Carey has said that he is "retiring" from acting.

The 60-year-old comedian/actor shared that he was "being fairly serious" about stepping out of the spotlight.

"I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas, and I really love my spiritual life, and I feel like — and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists – I have enough," he said. "I've done enough. I am enough."

He's not fully counting out a return to the big screen, but it sounds like it would have to be an incredibly special project to convince him.

"If the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink, that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road. But I'm taking a break."

According to People Magazine, Carey hinted at retiring 4 years ago in 2018. At the time, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he "just didn't want to be in the business anymore."

Carey is starring in the new Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie, out April 8.
