Another royal baby has arrived!

On Monday (September 20), Buckingham Palace announced the happy news that Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, welcomed their first child, a baby girl, together. Princess Beatrice is the oldest child of Prince Andrew and Duchess Sarah Ferguson, as well as Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London," the Palace wrote on Twitter.

“The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news,” the statement continued. “The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.

Princess Beatrice is stepmother to her husband's 5-year-old son Christopher Woolf, who he shares with ex-fiance Dara Huang. “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother, Christopher Woolf,” the palace concluded.

Princess Beatrice shared the happy news on her personal Twitter account, as well. "So delighted to share the news of the safe arrival of our daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. Thank you to the Midwife team and everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care," she wrote.

This royal baby arrival makes Queen Elizabeth a great-grandmother for the twelfth time. In 2021 alone, Queen Elizabeth has welcomed three new great-grandchildren. Princess Beatrice's younger sister, Princess Eugenie, welcomed her first child, a son named August, back in February with her husband Jack Brooksbank. In June, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their daughter Lilibet Diana.

Princess Beatrice's daughter is now eleventh in line for the British throne. Though it's unclear whether her child will receive British royal titles, she will inherit titles from her father's side of the family. “Edoardo is the only male descendent taking the family into the next generation. He is a count, his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna,” Edoardo's father Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi told the Daily Mail.

It's likely that the proud parents will follow royal tradition and wait several names before announcing their daughter's name.
