Foo Fighters' Self-Titled Debut Album Celebrates 25th Anniversary

On July 4th, 1995, Foo Fighters released their self-titled debut album and this July 4th marks the record's 25th anniversary.

Foo Fighters first full-length album was the result of a week-long studio session between Dave Grohl and musician/producer Barrett Jones not long after the death of Grohl's Nirvana bandmate Kurt Cobain. The Platinum-certified record featured twelve songs, including "This Is A Call," "I'll Stick Around," "For All The Cows" and "Big Me."

A rep for the band says of the milestone:

"It was exactly 25 years ago that a nondescript white label advance cassette recorded by Dave Grohl playing every instrument and singing every word morphed into the eponymous major label debut of the last great American stadium rock band: Foo Fighters."

They added, "In the years since the July 4, 1995 release of that platinum debut album, its songs have raised millions of voices in song the world over."

In the spring of 1995, Foo Fighters took their debut album on the road as they went on tour. Prior to the current coronavirus pandemic, the band was set to embark on "The Van Tour" to celebrate their 25th anniversary with fans, stopping at the same cities as they did during that first 1995 tour. However, due to COVID-19, the trek has been rescheduled.

Grohl said in a statement, "Remember Me? The guy who wouldn't even postpone a show when my G**D*** leg was falling off? Well... playing a gig with a sock full of broken bones is one thing, but playing a show when YOUR health and safety is in jeopardy is another... We f***** love you guys. So let's do this right and raincheck this sh**." He also added, teasing Foo Fighters forthcoming 10th full-length album, "The album is done, and it's f***** killer."

Fans will be able to celebrate the band's first and newest albums during the rescheduled tour dates, which begin in December.
