A New Jersey girl wasn’t happy when she heard her town’s annual Fourth of July parade down Main Street was canceled because of COVID-19, so she came up with a plan to save the summer tradition.
Emma Zapata emailed the mayor of Chatham to suggest the parade wind through neighborhood streets instead. She has always been a problem solver, so she came up with a couple of ideas and figured out a way to make it work, while still ensuring safety.
He loved her idea for residents watching safely from their own yards and gave it the green light. Safe to say, they mayor was not upset that he did not think of it himself!
