The company, Lysol, has issued a press release against any internal use after President Donald Trump suggested that people could get an "injection" of "the disinfectant that knocks (coronavirus) out in a minute."
A spokesperson for Reckitt Benckiser, the UK, based owner of Lysol, in a statement to NBC News.
"As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route),"
At the White House coronavirus briefing on Thursday, Trump mentioned;
"I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? As you see, it gets in the lungs, it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that."
Medical professionals were quick to respond to Trump's claims as "irresponsible" and "dangerous."
If you are wondering about the proper way to use Lysol's products, the company has a very informative video on their Instagram page.
