Virginia Allows Catoctin Creek to Start Delivering Orders

The state of Virginia has announced they have temporarily relaxed the rules regarding the sales of distilled spirits and are allowing distilleries to ship products directly to customers.

“Virginia distilleries contribute to the economic vitality of the commonwealth and it’s important that they have some flexibility in how they are able to provide their products to consumers while their tasting rooms are closed,” said Chief Executive Officer Travis Hill.

Catoctin Creek Distilling Company in Purcellville says the change has made a huge impact on business.

Co-owner Scott Harris told LoudounNow.com, "It's incredible. We've been wanting this for a long time," and added that they took more than 50 orders by lunchtime on Monday, surpassing what would have been a busy day in the tasting room.

Orders placed online will ship through a traditional carrier like FedEx or UPS. When a delivery is made, the customer will need to sign for the order and provide identification to verify they are at least 21 years of age.

The distillery has already been hard at work producing hand sanitizer to provide to first responders for free for over two weeks. This week, Catoctin Creek will start offering bottles of their homemade sanitizer to the public now that they have supplied all of the local organizations in need.
