A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the DC and Baltimore Metro areas, effective 6pm Thursday through 4am Friday. Forecasters are not expecting too much in the way of snow, but cold temperatures and the timing of the storm could combine for a slick rush hour across the DMV area.
The snow is expected to start falling during the evening rush tonight. The greatest impact is expected to be north and west of I-95 and along I-66 in Virginia.
Totals should be light, 1-2" expected, but enough to create the potential for rush hour travel disruptions. Be prepared with extra travel time and if you can, use public transportation.
UPDATED 12:48pm 1/17/19: National Weather Service released a new Expected Snow Totals map with higher amounts across the region. This article has been updated to reflect the new predictions.
