Trump Hotel Lost $1 Million Since Opening

Allegations were made by Representative Elijah Cummings and Representative Peter DeFazio in a letter requesting information about how the General Services Administration is addressing President Donald Trump's alleged breach of contract over the Old Post Office lease, home to Trump International Hotel.

The briefing details events that the representatives say are in direct conflict with the President:

  • Then-President-Elect Trump announced on January 11 that he refused to divest ownership in his companies.
  • On January 20 he was sworn-in as President.

These items, according to the briefing, place President Trump "in apparent breach of the lease with the Federal Government for his hotel in Washington, DC."

The briefing also reports that President Trump's company took in $1.1 million less than originally projected.
