THE GREAT CHEF JOSE ANDRES has only been a US citizen for three years, but in that time, he's used his gifts in the kitchen to make the world a better place!

Today, the DC-based chef who is an international culinary superstar with restaurants in some of the most amazing locales around the world, was honored by US PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA at the WHITE HOUSE for his contributions to the world!

According to White House Pool Reports, "Chef José Andrés, with the Outstanding American by Choice recognition by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, an initiative that recognizes the outstanding achievements of naturalized U.S. citizens who have demonstrated their commitment to our country and to the common civic values that unite us as Americans through their civic participation, professional achievements and contributions. José Andrés received his U.S. citizenship in November of 2013, but has been an active member of the community since he arrived to the United States.

He serves as Chairman Emeritus of DC Central Kitchen, Board Chair of the L.A. Kitchen, in addition to international philanthropic work through his own World Central Kitchen.  Andrés also runs restaurants in California, Nevada, Florida, Puerto Rico and Washington DC, including local restaurants Zaytinya, Jaleo, Minibar and America Eats Tavern.

"I'll never forget the time I met Andres in an elevator at the SLS in Beverly Hills," said American radio presenter TOBY KNAPP. "In town for a junket and a week before his famed BAZAAR opened, one of his colleagues showed me a copy of the WALL STREET JOURNAL with his likeness, and when we both realized we call DC home, we struck up and instant connection. He's one of the best. He's a global force for good and an example to so many on how to live a life to GIVE when you've received so much."
