A New Jersey cheerleader and honor student is throwing an epic tantrum and suing her parents after claiming they threw her out of the house, took her car and cut her off financially when she turned 18.
Rachel Canning, the brat in question, is currently living with her best friend's family who are also bankrolling the lawsuit. She's demanding that her parents pay her $5306 private Catholic high school tuition, her living and transportation costs, a college fund, and over $12000 in legal costs. She claims that even though she's 18, her parents should pay because she's an "unemancipated student."
This kid actually has a chance of winning because of a New Jersey court decision that specifies that “A child’s admittance and attendance at college will overcome the rebuttable presumption that a child may be emancipated at age 18.”
Rachel's father Sean Canning is former Lincoln Park, New Jersey police chief and says his daughter is a 'spoiled' liar who left on her own.
She filed the lawsuit last week in state family court. The hearing is Tuesday.
