Hurricane Maria Skirts Up The East Coast

Hurricane Maria isn’t done yet.

The Cat 1 hurricane is bringing wind, rain, storm surge, and coastal flooding to the East Coast. The storm that poured out so much misery on Puerto Rico and the Caribbean islands won't make landfall in the U.S. But high surf advisories are posted from the east coast of Florida to the Carolinas and as far north as southeast New England.

The advisories mean those areas could see dangerous breaking waves and rip currents. A tropical storm warning is out this morning for parts of the North Carolina coast, including the Outer Banks. The state is expected to get the brunt of the affects by Wednesday.

Uber will turn, in part, to its users to advocate for the brand. So far, a Change.org petition to keep Uber running in London has earned over 750,000 signatures. Uber said 3.5 million people have used its platform since starting in London in 2012. It said 40,000 licensed drivers will be affected.
