This IKEA Rug is Used for Every Cape in 'Game of Thrones!'

If you're like the 10.2 million people who watch HBO's Game of Thrones, you'll probably notice that a lot of the characters have elaborate wardrobes for any type of weather! The awesome thing is that some of the costumes were actually made from IKEA rugs!

In a speaking engagement focused on medieval dress, Michele Clapton, a former costume designer for Game of Thrones, revealed that the furs donned by many members of the Night’s Watch and in Winterfell started out as IKEA rugs!

Apparently all the costume designers do is cut and shave the IKEA rugs and add leather straps to them before breaking them down to look worn and torn or frosted based on where the character is wearing them!

While Clapton didn't say which IKEA rug is the one they use on set, many believe that the RENS Sheepskin or the TEJN Rug are the rugs that look like the capes the most! So if you need help for your Game of Thrones cosplay or Halloween costume, you know where to go first!!
