Maryland Man Settles Lawsuit With Melania Trump

71-year-old Gaithersburg blogger Webster Tarpley has settled with Melania Trump over the defamation case brought against him for a story he published saying the First Lady had worked as an escort in New York City.

The original claim was for $150 million. There are not a lot of details about the settlement, although Trump's lawyers confirmed Tarpley will pay a "substantial" amount of cash.

As part of the settlement, Tarpley also issued an apology:

“I posted an article on August 2, 2016 about Melania Trump that was replete with false and defamatory statements about her. I had no legitimate factual basis to make these false statements and I fully retract them. I acknowledge that these false statements were very harmful and hurtful to Mrs. Trump and her family, and therefore I sincerely apologize to Mrs. Trump, her son, her husband and her parents for making these false statements.”

Trump's lawyers have refiled their defamation lawsuit against Daily Mail in New York City, and that lawsuit continues with a claim worth $150 Million.
